Dietary assessment of food on a plate using a mobile phone camera

The aim of this project is to develop an application based on a mobile phone and an image analysis algorithm, executed either locally or on a remote host, to calculate the dietary intake using a questionnaire and the mobile phone photographs on meals from a group of children.

Multiple user interaction for the dome

In this diploma work project, the possibilities for the audience to participate and interact in the dome will be expanded by developing new modalities for interaction.

Network editor

We are making research work on the use of AI to model artificial characters. Currently, the decision making module of our characters works by using a complex node structure. The difficulties involved in creating this network by hand has led up to the need of a good editor. This editor must combine information vizualisation techniques with computer interface design to create a good intuitive editor for the project. More information can be found on the project web site. Tone mapping in real time for dome

This diploma work project investigates the possibilities for real time tone mapping of HDR rendered content, encompassing both real time rendered graphics and pre-rendered panoramic images and video.

Tusch: BIM i byggproduktion

Begreppet ”Building Information Model” är numera ganska väl etablerat inom byggbranschen. Syftet med examensarbetet är att studera vilket slags BIM-verktyg som skulle kunna göra mest nytta ute på byggplatsen, reda ut vilka data som skulle visas och hur, samt skapa en demonstrator.

Advanced graphics and interaction in exhibition

Norrköpings visualiseringscenter C has three key arenas for visualization: i) the dome, ii) the VR arena, and iii) the exhibition. The topic of this diploma work is to develop an interactive system for one of these three arenas, demonstrating current technology in computer graphics, visualization, computer vision, tracking, statistical analysis, or a related topic.

Advanced Multi-modal User Interfaces in 3D Computer Graphics and Virtual Reality

The student will look into existing user interfaces for virtual reality applications and extend, redesign, implement and evaluate a general purpose widget. The student should also look into the possibility to enhance the usability through haptic guidance. Start date: immediately.

AVTECH: Creation of Tool for Aircraft Trajectory and Wake-Vortex Visualization

Visualization is a crucial part of showing and understanding the effects of flow control in the future Air Traffic Management system. AVTECH is a world leader in the area of air traffic analysis. The objective of this project is to create a common visualization interface for different types of simulation output.

Haptics in stroke rehabilitation

Adding haptic feedback to computer interaction increases the senses of realism and presence while improving the proprioceptic motor-sensory interaction with the VR environment and so giving a better feeling for the body and body control. The purpose of this project is to investigate and demonstrate the possibilities of haptic enhancements in stroke rehabilitation.

Internal Palpation Simulation

Adding haptic feedback to computer interaction increases the senses of realism and presence while improving the proprioceptic motor-sensory interaction with the VR environment and so giving a better feeling for the body and body control. This project aim at the demonstration of the feasibility and immense value of haptic simulation of internal palpation.

Siemens Corporate Research: Imaging and visualization

This diploma work will be conducted at the Imaging and Visualization Dept. at Siemens Corporate Research, Princeton, NJ, US. Students will conduct leading-edge research and development on one of the following topics: large volume visualization, segmentation, deformable registration, fused/deformed volume rendering, real-time image processing, 4D visualization, augmented reality, client/server visualization, parallel computing.

SWEDEC: System for Mine Prodding Monitoring

SWEDEC driver utbildning i min-pikning, en process som ämnar i att manuellt lokalisera minor och granater utan att utlösa dem. En prototyp har utvecklats för att övervaka övningen hos en grupp lärlingar och detta exjobb ämnar i att utveckla datafiltrering och visualisering för att förbättra övervakningen från lärarens sida. The Immersive Dome

The dome theatre is a large scale immersive VR display that allows a group of people to be presented with real-time computer graphics, in our system even with stereo vision. The aim of this project is to implement view dependent rendering in the dome using geometry compensation.

Virtual Reality with Haptics

Today we use haptics on special semi-immersive workstations. We also have a larger VR workbench. This diploma work aims at adding the necessary functionality to the haptics system to enable moving applications between these two platforms. This involves tracker and stereo display programming, API modification and software design and implementation. Start date: immediately.

Applikationen ska utvärderas med avseende på verktygets användarvänlighet och effekt på förståelse av meningsskapande kring djuranatomi och evolutionsteori. Detta görs i klassrumssituationer och/eller i utställningen på Visualiseringcentret.

Warping and Edge Blending

Large VR displays allow a group of people to be presented with real-time computer graphics for a collective immersive experience. However, large displays introduce additional technical problems over ordinary screens. The aim of this project is to work with the in-house VR software and implement, into this system, techniques for image warping and edge blending.

Cloudbase internt för analyser på branschnivå. Studenten förväntas ta reda på vilka data som kan vara relevanta att visa upp samt utforma visuella statistikrapporter som skapar värde för både slutkunden och Cloudbase.

Implementation of an interactive software for visualization of diagnosability properties

Systems for monitoring and diagnosing complex technical systems are today common in all types of vehicles.To evaluate the potential benefits of introducing diagnosis a so called diagnosability analysis can be performed. This project aims at making diagnosability results more comprehendible by implementing an interactive software for visualizing diagnosability properties.
