Stephen Westland - Obtaining accurate colour from digital cameras

Inexpensive colour imaging devices are now ubiquitous but colour fidelity still presents a technical challenge for manufacturers of image-capture devices. This presentation will outline the technical difficulties in working towards digital colour communication. International systems of colour communication will be introduced and the main problem of digital colour fidelity will be described. A summary of research into colour characterization of digital cameras will be discussed and illustrated with case studies including practical examples where the research has been implemented.
