Prof Björn Kruse - The birth of image processing in Sweden
Talare: professor Björn Kruse
Tid: Ons 18/5, kl 15.15
During the late 60's there was great interest in analyzing tracks from nuclear collisions in cloud chambers. Only a fraction of the obtained images contained information that was important. In medical screening there was also a great need for image analysis to be able to cope with the enormous volumes of data that screening of cervical smears created. The same thing applied to radar target analysis and tracking. The need for processing power led to a lot of exciting new computer architectures and image processing algorithms that have't really become practical until a few years ago. This talk will describe the early efforts made in Sweden in the 60's, 70's and 80's.
