Dr Shaaron Ainsworth works at the intersection of Psychology, Education and Computer Science and has degrees in Psychology and Artificial Intelligence. Her research is focused on representational learning, which refers to the way that people construct representations (text, pictures, animations, videos, simulations Virtual Reality etc) to help themselves and others learn. This provides unique opportunities for learning but also associated costs as understanding representations places great challenges on learners and the teachers who support their understanding.
