Agenda

We are happy to announce our two keynote speakers for 2021: Parimal Kopardekar (NASA) and Gianluca Di Flumeri (Sapienza University of Rome)
Parimal Koparekar (PK)
Parimal Kopardekar (PK) serves as the Director of NASA Aeronautics Research Institute (NARI). In that capacity, he is responsible for exploring new trends, collaborations and partnerships needs related to aviation enterprise. He also serves as NASA's senior technologist for Air Transportation Systems and principal investigator for the Unmanned Aircraft Systems Traffic Management (UTM) project. He is recipient many awards such as NASA Federal Invention of the Year Award, Exceptional Technology Achievement Medal, Outstanding Leadership Award, and Engineer of the Year Award; Samuel J Heyman Service to America’s Promising Innovation Award; and was named among 25 most influential people in drone industry. He is Co-Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Aerospace Operations and fellow of American Aeronautics and Astronautics. He also serves as an adjunct faculty and teaches undergraduate and graduate courses related to operations management and supply chain management.

Gianluca di Flumeri
Dr. Gianluca Di Flumeri is a Biomedical Engineer and Ph.D. in Biophysics. He is currently a Research Fellow at the Department of Molecular Medicine of Sapienza University of Rome, focusing his research on applying cognitive neuroscience for Human Factor assessment in safety-relevant operational environments. At the same time, he also works as consultant R&D Project Manager at BrainSigns, an Italian SME involved in Industrial Neuroscience applications. His main research activities are focused on acquisition and analysis of human biosignals (brain activity, heart activity, skin conductance, eye-tracking), with the aim of investigating neurophysiological correlations with human cognitive phenomena. The outcome is the development of synthetic neurometrics of specific and relevant mental states, such as mental workload, vigilance, stress, and so on, for socially relevant applications such as the Human Factor evaluation in operational environments (aviation, automotive, robot-assisted surgery), and the development of advanced Human-Machine Interfaces. Part of his research is co-funded by National and European Research Programmes (Horizon 2020, SESAR Joint Undertaking). He usually attends International Conferences of Bioengineering, he published on several high-impact peer-reviewed journals and books, he is co-inventor of a European Patent, and he received several national and international scientific awards, including the “Young Scientist Award 2018” by SESAR JU.
