• SWE, Scientific Writing in English, Summer 2021

    PhD course
Yes, the double meaning of SWE(dish) and Scientific Writing in ENGLISH is intentional ;)

Organization

  • The course in June 2021 is full, you can contact me to get on the interest list for next year (or on a waiting list for this year in case someone will bail out).
  • Lecturer : Christiane Schmidt
  • To sign up write an email to Christiane by May 31, 2021.
  • The course will consist of two parts, where part 1 can be taken without part 2. Part 1 and part 2 will yield 1 and 2 credits, respectively.
    • Part 1 will consist of 2x4 hour lectures in June (time tbd with course participants), some non-mandatory homework with a discussion seminar, and a final test.
    • In part 2, you will work with a paper of your own, and polish your writing according to what you learned in part 1. You can determine yourself when you cover this part, e.g., according to your own paper deadlines. Please discuss your planned schedule with me in advance.
  • Topics covered:

    • Cutting clutter
    • Punctuation

This is literature used by me, you can take a look in some of these books, but it is not necessary to pass the course. However, several of these will help you to get accustomed to working with your text even more :)
